Purpose of the Post
This post sits within the Communications Service and reports to the Head of News and Media Relations.
The News and Media Relations Team is responsible for promoting the wide-ranging work of the Assembly to print, broadcast, specialist and online media. The team provides journalists with up to date information on Chamber business, the work of the Committees, the work of the Assembly Commission and public engagement activities undertaken by the Assembly. This post is essential to ensuring the delivery of the Commission's engagement goals and priorities.
The successful candidate will support the Head of News to deliver a steep change in the way the Assembly informs and engages with the people of Wales in line with the ambitions set out in the Digital News and Information Taskforce Report, "Creating a Digital Dialogue". The successful candidate will use strong political judgement to shape handling for announcements and breaking news including managing crisis communications.
As a senior member of the Communications Service, the post-holder will also play a key role in defining and delivering services that consolidate the Assembly's international reputation as an innovative, forward looking parliament. Pattern of Working This is a full-time post although flexible working arrangements will be considered, subject to meeting the needs of the Assembly and its Members.
